MY JOURNEY

My journey towards an Electrical Engineering Profession began in high school when my interest in the automotive industry emerged. I had initially wanted to do Mechanical Engineering but instead, I got accepted for Electrical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. This began as a setback but I realized this could be a great opportunity for me instead. As the industry continues to develop and technology is advancing at an astronomical rate, the automotive industry is also advancing and building towards the future of electric vehicles. This strengthened my drive and passion for the automotive industry and this setback became my 'blessing in disguise'.

The automotive industry has many different fields I am very keen to explore which align with my degree and the knowledge I have acquired thus far. The electrical engineering aspects include working with motors, quality control and testing of battery packs. The electronics engineering aspects include developing the infortainment system in vehicles, and manufacturing and installing sensors in vehicles. And finally the computer engineering aspects include developing algorithms for Battery Management System (BMS), Making IoT modules for sharing real-time data generated by electric vehicles and using artificial intelligence to improve the efficiency of BMS. These are all the aspects I am excited to explore in the automotive industry. 

At the moment, I might not be where I plan to be in terms of my career but this is just a detour to learn and grow myself. I will take every opportunity that comes my way to develop myself into the person I want to be. I am optimistic that I will eventually achieve my goal of working in the automotive industry. As for now, I will just enjoy the journey as I explore the many different aspects of engineering and use whatever I learn to achieve my goal.
